Highlights of Chinese president's tour in U.S.

The following are highlights of the tour of Chinese President Hu Jintao in the United States, during which he attended a series of UN meetings and the G20 Summit and met with leaders of some countries:

PITTSBURGH -- Chinese President Hu Jintao on Friday called on world leaders to make every effort to promote global economic growth and a comprehensive, balanced and sustainable socio economic development.

"The international community's confidence has strengthened, financial markets have moved toward stability and the world economy has seen positive signs," Hu said in a speech at the Group of 20 (G-20) economic summit in Pittsburgh.

Hu called for more efforts to be made in three areas, namely standing firm in commitment to stimulating economic growth, advancing reform of the international financial system and promoting balanced growth of the global economy.

Hu said that China has taken an active role in international development cooperation, and has been actively engaged in international cooperation to tackle the crisis since it broke out.

PITTSBURGH -- Chinese President Hu Jintao left here for home on Friday after attending UN meetings in New York and the G20 summit here.

Hu started his U.S. trip on Monday from New York, where he attended the UN climate change summit on Tuesday, delivered a speech in a general debate of the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, and participated in a UN Security Council summit on nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament on Thursday.
