Mexico reaffirms support for peaceful solution to Honduran crisis
Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Tuesday reaffirmed pledge to contribute to the peaceful solution to the political crisis in Honduras.
Calderon repeated condemn on the military coup that has ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya on June 28, when he welcomed Zelaya in the presidential residence Los Pinos.
He offered a "full support" for Zelaya's prompt and peaceful reinstatement, saying that Zelaya and his government will always have the Mexican authorities and people by their side.
"Mexico has continuously advocated in various forums the restitution of the constitutional order in Honduras and of President Zelaya as the president of this brother country," said Calderon.
"To undo this coup is the aim and the challenge of the international community," said Zelaya, "to continue using peaceful means to find answers and reach a solution for our people will continue to be what will guide us for the hopes and dreams of the Honduran people."
Calderon expressed supports to the plan proposed by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias in a bid to break the political deadlock in Honduras. Arias' plan, proposed in negotiations last month in San Jose, includes Zelaya's return to power and the canceling of the referendum pushed by him on constitutional changes.
